Leave it to the state I think. I thought I read Michigan's stance has basically become, if you think it is for religious reason's, it is for religious reasons. As long as it meets the legal requirements (no hard and unyielding head gear for example) then it is legal.

Personally, I am not touching potential religious items with a 10 foot pole. As long as it looks like its for religious reasons, I am letting it go. I'm not asking for reasons or addressing it unless it is a safety issue.
