Whistle? Where's My Damn Whistle ???
Officials have been known to spit out their whistles (or even forget to put a whistle in their mouth in rare cases).
I spit mine out last week and apologized to a coach for a very late whistle on a violation.
Maybe that explains the change in the timeout time put back on the clock?
