Coaching staff will be rightly upset but simply tell them it was our mistake for not catching it sooner and they will move on.

All the more reason to be very patient as Lead when throwing the ball. Make sure everyone is set, make eye contact with free throw shooter to make sure they are ready to receive, and then throw the ball. No reason to hurry, we control the pace.
