It doesn’t. However, we’d be lying to ourselves if we claimed this wasn’t a widely accepted interpretation.
No way I’m ever issuing a warning here if it’s unintentional. However, if the ball gets away so that it cannot be retrieved quickly, I’ll stop the clock per whatever rule/case dictates that (cue BillyMac).
