New rule 3-4-4b question
Anybody seen the NFHS new rules presentation? In discussing 3-4-4b, it states that the shoulder area is allowed to hold identifying names or conference/team logos.
And then one of the ILLEGAL examples they show is a player's initials that are in the shoulder area. Why is this illegal? Because it's not a patch? A memorial patch is still legal, right?
So I can't figure out why having initials on a patch is legal, but having the initials on the jersey in the same location is not legal.
Is it because the initials in the illegal example are the player's OWN initials? Why should that matter? It's identifying and it's in the legal area.
Any thoughts/ideas?
