Catcher obstruction?

Sit.1
R1 on 3b. F1 hits her hip in the windmill, ball rolls directly towards home plate. As R1 advances home, F2 bolts out to scoop up the ball and make the play.
Sit. 2
Same situation, but ball rolls towards foul line halfway between HP and 1B.
CO in Sit.1, Batter and R1 advance (F2 interfering with a squeeze play)? In Sit. 2, batter couldn't hit the ball without being called out.
