Help with rule?

One player "snaps" rim in pregame warm-up period. They were all jumping up to tap/touch the rim as they headed back to the locker room to remove warm-ups. Is this a Technical? All I see referenced is actually dunking unless I just haven't found it yet. Help would be appreciated.

Had one last night, during boys JV.

Only exception is to prevent injury.

Not a newbie, not a vet. What do you call a 3rd year guy?

A Junior

Couple years ago in a boys varsity game a team calls time out and one of the players just runs up to the rim and does this (oh about 5 feet away from him).

I look at the coach who has a stunned look on my face. I issue the T and the first thing out the coach's mouth, "how could you be so stupid do that during a game, and right in front of the ref."

Couldn't sit the kid, he was their best player.

And the net is part of the basket as well, so it doesn't to just the rim...

But it says:

ART. 3

Grasp either basket at any time during the game except to prevent injury; dunk or stuff, or attempt to dunk or stuff a dead ball.

Are pregame warmups considered "during the game?"

The correct reference, at least last year, is 10-4-1i.
