I'm a football and basketball official, but my highschool was in the team regional last night and I have a question. Close to the end of one period the ref was pointing one finger down at the wrestlers. The period ended with no points awarded. I'd like to know what the finger ment. Thanks guys.

I believe that the official was pointing to the wrestler that still had the top position. In that period one of the wrestlers started that period in the top position. He was pointing to the wrestler that still retained the top position. Obviously, the player on top did not lose his position since no points were scored. Otherwise, the player on top would have been awarded a reversal for 2 points. I'm not a wrestling official, but had friends who wrestled. If there are any officials out there that actually know the rule book, you should reply with the technical information. I hope this helps....
