Mixed Up Lineup

Lets say the coach turns in his written lineup abefore the 2 minute mark: 1,2,3,4,6,5

At the start of the set, the players are checked on the floor they are instead in the order 1,2,3,4,5,6. All the correct players are on the floor; no player listed is on the bench. They are simply in the incorrect order.

Coach then claims that he wrote his line-up incorrectly and wants to change it.

Which of these is correct?

A. The coach may NOT make any changes to his line-up and the team must play in the order they are listed on the lineup.
B. The coach may change his line-up with a penalty point and serve awarded to the opposing team.

Reading 7.1.2 seems to indicate that NO changes can be made...he's stuck with what he's written??? But on the other hand the coach could claim that is was simply a failure to turn in an "accurate" line-up and eat the point to get the desired line-up.

Later the same coach turned in a line-up for his 3rd set with 7 players listed: 1,2,3,4,5,3, (6 was then listed in the libero position at the bottom of his line-up although no uniforms had changed and he didn't use a libero all night!)

In this situation, the Coach may not change his line-up. He must place the players in the proper order on the court according to the line-up submitted. He may, however, make a substitution to change any of the players on the court before play begins.

The line-up change with a penalty point awarded is in case the line-up contains a player number that is not present on the bench or floor, but the correction does not count as one of the 18 allowed substitutions.

If the coach has a player on the court that is not on the line-up, he may either put the correct player on the court or use a substitution to use the player that is already on the court.

The volleyball casebook and manual covers all of these situations.
