Is there a knee pad rule in volleyball?

just wondering, was attending a game last night and the ref took away a point and gave some sort of warning to a girl on a team because she was not wearing knee pads like her team mates were wearing! What is the rule on knee pads?

For fed, I can't find any mention of knee pads at all. Don't know about NCAA or USAV. Perhaps it was a league rule of some kind?

This was a NFHS game! The coach went crazy and argued until she was blue in the face about having no rule against it, but no one had any proof and of course the officials are never wrong! :)

Is there a rule maybe about having to look like all the other players on the floor or something? Maybe if one has the knee pads they all have too or something? Just trying to see how they could mess this up.

The official was incorrect. I believe the official mistakenly applied a sanction pertaining to "legal uniform" in that she had no kneepads while the rest of the team did, or even if they were a different color. Teams must be in either "identical" or "similar" uniforms in all rule bases. However, in USAV, NCAA & NFHS there is no rule "requiring" kneepads, nor are kneepads part of the players "uniform"... kneepads are legal "equipment." Additionally, even if the official was incorrectly sanctioning for illegal uniform, a team never has a point taken away. I'm curious, did the coach protest?

You have got to be kidding.

Well, when you make officials the FED fashion police and OHSA for HS VB, you will gewt overreactions like this.

I guess if you play for that official, and one player had to have two fingers buddy taped - the entire team would have to have the same two fingers buddy taped or they would be losing a lot of points :D

You mean they wouldn't have to do that?;):D
