Re-serve
Ok, I had a strong feeling and I was wrong....on a reserve if the girl catches the ball they still get to reserve. This after looking it up we found that they can do this in FED. I was thinking that you had to let it drop to the ground, untouched even if it hit your foot on the way down you can't reserve. But the book said different. I don't usually "make rules up" so I know that I heard this somewhere.....am I nuts or is there some rules somewhere I got confused about?

Re-serve
That used to be the rule, several years ago.

reserve
In club ball 14 and under and down they are allowed to toss the ball, let it drop without touching the ball and get a reserve. They just can't do it 2 times in row.

Dave, Joe is correct. In USAV 14 and under has a re-serve privilege for each rally. The requirement is that they can toss and let the ball drop. In USAV, it is not permissable to toss and catch the ball. That is only allowable in NFHS rules.
Good luck as you join us in trying to keep the different rules sets straight in our minds!!!! |
Thanks for the replies....I am apparently not doing a good job of keeping those rules straight!!
One other thing..if she were to throw the ball up and it hit her anywhere below the waist on the way down, would that be considered an illegal hit? |
In FED rules, if she doesn't make an effort to contact the serve, you would allow the re-serve. You wouldn't call her for an illegal contact if she caught the ball, right? :D
