How many did and didn't use Libero

Several of us were talking last week. We were surprised at the number of teams in my former area of the state that did not use the Libero. I'm interested to see how many of the schools in my new area this year do and do not. What has your experience been? What would you say the percentage of those schools who did and did not use the L in your area was?

Not to sound like I'm labeling, but overall, I found that the "better" programs around here used a libero, while the schools that did not were generally as good as the programs that did.

Probably 70-30 percentage of schools I saw used the libero, but I tended to work more large schools where the club influence made it an easier transition for them.

We were one of the experimental states, so this is our 3rd year with the libero. The first year only few of the larger schools or those with developed programs used it - maybe 20%, and probably 60% of those at the varsity level only. Last year, it was up to maybe 50% overall, but roughly 80/20 in the larger or more developed programs. We also saw a significant increase in libero use at the sub-varsity level. I think Felix's 70/30 estimate is close to where it will settle out.

I say around here it is nearly 80%, but I mostly see larger schools. It has taken a couple of full seasons for high school coaches to use it. Club seemed to utilize the libero and embrace it much more than the school's did. Of course that seems to be the way with most stuff.

One Frosh - one team did, other didn't

One Varsity Suburban schools - both team used only one served.
