Red card administration

If a participant earns a red card during play, do you end the rally and assess the card? Or do you allow the rally to be completed, award the point as usual, and THEN assess the card?

I thought the card ended the rally, but I was recently told that I was wrong.

From the NFHS Case Book / Officials Manual:

For a second minor offense by the same individual, or for a single
serious offense, a red card is administered at the first dead ball.

It depends. If you're dealing with aggressive conduct, end the rally. If it's just continued complaining after they've already gotten yellow, wait until the end.
