Double contact on first team contact

Tonight's match, I was R1. Team A attacks the ball. Player B1 legally blocks the ball which travels down into the body of the net on B's side. The ball rebounds out of the net and hits B1 in the chest, and then falls toward the floor. B1 extends her leg and kicks the ball.

I called this a double contact. It seems to me that contacting the chest and then kicking at the ball were two different plays on the ball.

Thoughts? Would anyone consider this to be one attempt at playing the ball, so no double? Coach questioned it briefly, but my R2 convinced him, I guess.

Separate attempts on the ball. Easy call.

Agreed, unless some body part was above the height of the net when the ball contacted the chest -- in that case, that specific contact is part of the block, and the kick is the first contact.

...and of those times where the correct call, by rule, gets you killed. :D
