Two Liberos -- HS

FED rules.

Team A has only one libero jersey, but two players who share the libero duties -- but never in the same set.

The roster includes:

Smith...2/L1
Jones...3/L1

Is that allowed? If not, is it a penalty right then?

If so, can Smith play Libero in the first set and then have Smith and Jones leave the visual confines of the court and have Smith give the libero jersey to Jones and have Jones play the second set? Is there a penalty to do so?

(all of the above assuming no DQ or injury, of course)

See, it's questions like these that make me realize that I just don't know the rules the way I should. If this were a basketball question about switching jerseys, the answer is easy. But I honestly don't know here. I'll have to do a lot of digging.

I *think* the answer is:

Each Libero number on the roster must be unique, so the roster as given must be corrected; e.g.:
Smith...2/L1
Jones...3/

If that is done before 10 minutes before the match, no penalty; otherwise point/loss of rally.

If Jones wants to be Libero for the second set, then that is a roster change -- and a penalty (unless one has been assessed previously).

Comments?

My opinion is no, this is not legal, since at this point 1 is a duplicate number on the roster (7-1-1c ..... The libero number shall not be a duplicate of any other player on the roster. )
