Libero is in the set for #22. #22 re enters the set Can #22 be substituted by a legal sub after she enters the set. Question #2 #22 is substituted by #23 a legal sub Can the libero replace #23 before a serve as a back row player but not the server

Question 1: Yes, #23 can sub for #22.

Question 2: Libero can enter for #23 IF there has been a serve / play after the time Libero left for #22.

1. If there are subs remaining, and 23 has not played in the set before (assuming not an exceptional sub), this is perfectly legal.

2. The libero can replace ANY back row player who is not the server, provided there has been a completed rally in between replacements. The replacement is not required to be for the right back player.

Does this mean that the libero can't replace a player who has begun his/her term of service?

Sure they can. I didn't mean to infer they could ONLY replace a back row player who is not the server; I was answering within the context of the second question posed.

Gotcha. Thanks. The wording threw me, but I totally get you now.
