Libero Uniform NFHS

I had this one last night. I think we handled the ruling correct, but want to make sure.

High school playoff match. Team A is clearly better and has dominated Team B during the first two sets. The Team A coach wants to put a different player into the match as the libero for the third set.

I know switching the libero between sets is legal, so there was no issue there.

The question was about the uniform color.

Team A is wearing medium to dark blue jersey's while the libero has been in a silver jersey. Clearly contrasting uniforms. The 3rd set libero, as a JV call up, does not have the silver jersey, but has a white jersey.

Clearly a contrasting color to that of the rest of the team, but not the same color as the libero from the first two sets.

I can find nothing in the rules that says a libero from 1 set must have the same color as the libero in a different set. Am I missing something?

What would the rule be for other rule codes like USAV and NCAA?

I would do as you did, under the general theory that the rule book lists what "not allowed" and if it's not shown, it's legal.

The libero player only has to have a jersey color contrasting to the non-libero team members. Multiple liberos are not required to have the same libero color, they only need to have a color that contrasts non-libero players.

In addition, if the team was wearing dark blue, the same libero player can play set one in white, go to the locker room, change, play set two in yellow, go to the locker room, play set three in neon green, etc, so long as the number matches his/her number on the roster. Heck, all the players can change each set so long as the contrasts match and the roster numbers match.

As was stated, generally, as long as there's not a rule making it illegal, it's legal.
