Very nit-picky question about R2 procedure

In a match utilizing LJs, if the teams return from a TO early, and the LJ2 hasn't had time to walk all the way around to return to his/her base position, should the R2 give the court back to the R1 as soon as the teams are on the court, or she the R2 wait until the LJ2 is also in position before giving the court back?

Happened in my match today and I realized I wasn't sure if there a "right" way to do it. Thanks.

Not sure your question is addressed specifically, but the timeout shouldn't end until the teams are on the court and in position and ready to play, not necessarily when they take the court. So hopefully the LJ, if walking quickly enough, can get into position while the team is getting ready to play. In theory.

In good practice, it would probably be best waiting on the LJ2 to get into position, or pretty close, before calling for the horn. Then once the horn hits, the LJ2 should be in position and the R2 can give the court back.

Thanks, Felix. I was the LJ2 in that scenario. Both teams came back to the court with about 30 seconds left in the TO (well before R2's whistle). LJ1 and I left for our positions and R2 got the whistle, horn, and signal to R1; and I was still about 3 steps from my corner.

Not a huge deal, didn't delay the game at all, and R1 did a full scan, so I had time to get into position.

It just made me realize that I didn't know if there was a defined protocol. Thanks!
