Deciding Set Matches
 

I'm kinda curious to hear how many deciding set matches you all have worked this year between hs and college (if applicable). My count is 11 so far including 3 in 3 days this week :eek: :eek: :eek: I think I'm the king of 5s

I lost count on high school, but my best guess is 5 and 1 college match. The other hs officials joke that I am bad luck for a long night. Last night was my final regular season hs match, figured it would go 5, but the one team just didn't show up, their heads were elsewhere, and it ended in 3 easily.

You all are going to think this is nuts but I've had now 7 of the 11 where a team was up 2-0 and allowed the other team to win 2 consecutive sets.Those are the ones that drive me bonkers.I don't mind the ones where the teams trade sets at all.Fifty-that's starting to become the running joke about me also out here.

I've had about a dozen JV and freshman matches go 3. Only 3 varsity matches that have gone 5.

But how competitive were the first two sets? I have had about 5 matches go 5 sets this year, but 2 of them were as you said, the first 2 sets went to one team and the final 3 went to the other. In one of these matches, the scores were like 26-24, 29-27, 23-25, 24-26, 19-17, so the teams were evenly matched.
