And the season begins......

I hope everyone's season is off to a good start.

Ours is starting a little whacky this year...some schools started classes on 8/27, some are starting on 9/2, and still others on 9/8. As a result we had a few matches last week, more this coming week, and then the flood gates open.

Our commissioner/assigner has done an awesome job of keeping everything organized and we all hope it will go smoothly as possible.

Good luck to everyone as your season starts!

Season Start

Here in Pennsylvania, the season starts on Friday 9/4. This is mandated by the state association. Class starts have been various dates from 8/24 to 9/8.

So far I have 36 match days this year between High School and College.I get started tomorrow with 5 matches in 5 days.Got picked up by 2 college conferences to call lines this year and am getting rated to move up.Gonna be a fun year ;) ;) Has anyone who has worked yet had to use the new unnecessary delay cards? If so how did it go?

My regular season begins tonight. I'm looking forward to it with the hope that my summer work at the local club continues to pay dividends. I've neither had or seen anything concerning the new UD rule.

In a match I had last week (R2), one of the teams libero exchange was not going through the exchange zone. The libero was coming on and off though the end line. So during a time out in the first set I warned the coach to make sure the libero exchange was done properly. Then I realized that the yellow card IS the warning. So actually I should have issued a yellow but the verbal got the job done as the libero exchange was done properly for the rest of the game. Plus it was first game of the season for both teams and both schools really have no volleyball "program", just kids that come out first day of practice. So yeah I let that one slide a bit.;)

First match of the year for me tonight and we went 5.
*Had to give the loosest ball handling bar I've ever given in a varsity match and still cringed a bit at some of the ones I let them get by with.
*Unnecessary Delay in the first 10 points-I figured someone would use the old sequence and mechanics and then realize their mistake.Nope didn't happen to me.
*Multiple scorekeeping issue but by the end she knew what she was doing.

5 match days this week.Have fun everyone
