Can someone please clarify what the word "singlet" means or the terms "track jersey". Some have said it means "tank top". If so, why didn't they print "tank top"? Any help on a concrete definition would be appreciated.

A jersey is any type of top issued by the school. It is separate and different than the bottoms.
A singlet, is just that, one single item of clothing that acts as a top and bottom. |
I agree, but I had a Meet director say that because our tops didn't look like a tank top that they were illegal, because the word singlet meant "tank top". But a body suit top was legal. Is there any way that I can get this interpretation from someone official at the NHSF? thank you.

I don't have it in front of me, but as I recall the case book has some pretty concrete rulings on it. As far as a rule interp, the fed will nto give you one. You must go through your state assoc.

Case Book
where do I find this case book so I can check out the rulings myself? thanks Brian for all your help.

Don't where you live, but officials get them from the state, nd here in OH all coaches get a copy as well.
The best place to look is your state assoc. If that doesn't work, nfhs.org has a place where you can order one. |
