Recommendation For a New Chest Protector.
 

I am going to a men's fastpitch National and an going to buy a new chest protector. I have a small one that I use for college, high school and JO softball. But my larger one is 20 years old and I am ready for a new one. Please let me know what you use and what you would recommend.

I use a Wilson Platinum that I had originally bought for high school and adult league baseball. Maybe it's overkill for some of the softball games I work, but I'd rather be overprotected than underprotected. It's virtually bulletproof and hard hits just bounce off of it.

I'm looking at getting the new Schutt XV. It's a hardshell, but lighter than the Platinum, plus it has ventilation that should make it cooler.

I like "The Ump". It is lightweight, and I have taken direct shots with no consequence. Can't tell you what the technology is, but it is along the lines of Kevlar. The harder it gets hit, the more it absorbs the blow.

No, Men's Master in Midland July 30 - August 2.

Okay. MTD, Jr., is umpiring in the ASA Girls' 14U "B" Fast Pitch Eastern Nationals in Canton, Ohio, from July 22nd to July 26th.

Our ASA umpires association (OhioASA District #19 Ump. Assn.) out of Findlay, Ohio, is hosting the ASA Men's Class "C" Fast Pitch Nationals from August 28th to August 30th.
