noise

NFHS Girl"s fastpitch Is there any rule about having noises makers in the dugout. In our area players are starting to bring drum sticks (not chicken) to the dugout and beat with them when the other team is batting. Rule number please.

Check with your state association. I would be truly surprised if there isn't a state regulation making artificial noisemakers illegal in the dugout at any time, and generally prohibited during live play.

I completely agree. This sounds like a state association issue. I think this could also be determined to be an unsportsmanlike act by the defensive team.

The other thing I would have to ask is how many players does the team have. To have that much noise making a difference while the team is on defensive makes me think they have a huge team. Most of my games this season I have been lucky to fill 4 lines with subs.

How is that the umpire's concern?

I didn't say it was the umpires concern, I was simply asking a QUESTION. Is asking a QUESTION allowed without someone taking you to task on here? Oh wait, the tone of this board has made it clear, the answer is NO.

I think you know otherwise.

What difference does that make? Is there a limitation how many players a high school team may have on its roster? If a team shows up with 25 players in the dugout, do umpires have the wherewithal to tell the coach he/she has to get rid of some of them?

I'm pretty sure the answer to that is No. So like dlsumpntx, I don't even know why you would raise this as an issue.
