Assisting the Runner?

I had this today in a high school game. B1 swing and hits a dribbler. She is safe at first and runs through the bag. She returns to the bag and continues toward home (1 or 2 steps) when the 1st base coach grabs her arm and guides her back to first. (I did call her out)
1. Is there rule support to have her out?
2. Would you call her out?

NFHS Rule 8-6-5 calls for an out if a runner is assisted by any offensive team member other than another live runner. It seems to me this would support your out call.

1. See Manny's post.
2. Heck yes. Especially high school. I can see ignoring this early in the season in 10U or lower. But HS? Absofreakinglutely.

While we're on the subject, mere touching is not (necessarily) assisting. Examples of touching that is not assisting: fist bumps, high fives, etc. This also applies to teammates congregating around home to congratulate the home run hitter.

I completely agree with Manny's answer for HS level. The first game or two of the MS season (in the league I work), I may also let it go with a warning as well (provided the defense isn't trying to make a play on the runner). The MS league I work is very similar to 10U ball in terms of experience.
