Heard this one tonight
This was on the field next to where I was working. Co-Rec low level slow pitch.
I heard the plate umpire say "he went around, strike 3". The next thing I hear is "he can go to the parking lot". At this time my ears perk up. I hear someone from "his" team yelling and then "You can join him". Apparently, the guy didn't like the strike 3 call. He apparently did not agree and walked away silently, but he gave the you're #1 sign to the umpire. At the same time the manager came out to argue. The finger got the batter ejected. The manager then went balastic and was allowed to join him in the parking lot. It also lead to the team getting two automatic outs for repeating batters of the same gender, as both guys were near each other in the order (league rule, automatic out when 2 players of the same gender bat back to back). This happened on a game run under 1 man too, which meant our site supervisor had to intervene. |
Is there a question or concern here?

If the manager was in the line-up, there better be two males subs or the game is over. So, there are no automatic outs to be had. Even if the teams went shorthanded legally, two members of the same gender never bat consecutively since there would be an out recorded between the two male/female batters. AFA the ejections, no problem there though I would probably be laughing at the poor little bab...er, batter as I asked for a substitute. |
