Mens FP. R1 and R3, batter hits a double to left center. On the play at the plate on R1, I set up 3B extended. Runner slides, catcher applies tag late, I make the safe call. As I move in to clean the plate which is covered with about 2 inches of fine dust I notice that my navy pants are completely grey from the cloud of dust that reached me. My partner had a good chuckle. Told him I was going to set up 1st base extended from now on :)

Gray from softball field dust?? Around here it's more like orange / red. Sometimes hard to get out of the white stripes on my shirt! (I never though umpiring and Ask Heloise had anything in common - I was wrong!)
