Gotta love youth rec softball

The thrills and spills of youth rec softball (12U)....enjoy!

Final out of my game tonight...batter pops one up right in front of home plate, slightly up the 1B line. Catcher dives, and just gets the top of the mitt on the ball as it lands about a foot fair. Ball bounces into foul territory. Coaches are yelling at their players, but it's chaos. The batter picks up her bat and starts taking some cuts to get ready for the next pitch, all the while wondering what her coach is screaming about. Catcher finally figures it out, gets the ball, and fires it well inside the 1B-man into RF. RF chases it down, knows her coaches want her to throw to first, and air mails a peg into the screen of the dugout. Ball skips down behind home plate, where the catcher gets her hands on it again, and again fires it into RF! All this time, the other coach is yelling for his batter to run, but even watching all this she continues to take practice cuts, telling her coach "but it's foul." Now, the RF gets the ball for the second time, throws to first, and the 1B-man misses it off her mitt, it hits her side, and caroms to the 2B-man. She picks it up and makes a nice soft toss to first to finally get the out. That's 2-9-2-9-3-4-3 if you're scoring!!

Happens in high school ball too (granted some high school is barely even rec). Have had very similar situations in 2 high school varsity games and a JV game. The JV game was with bases loaded and 2 outs and could not seem to make the coach understand why none of the runs scored.
