ASA 3-man

Has anyone documented the differences between the 2013 ASA Umpire Manual and 2013 ASA DVD for 3-man?

I was informed this past weekend that there are several, especially regarding when PU trails BR, which is "supposedly" different, and that ASA NC UIC's will be evaluating based on the DVD and not the book.

I just attended the Advanced camp this past weekend. We where told trail with no one on or First base only. I have not reviewed the 3 man video. I do have a copy of the newest ASA 3 man Powerpoint if you need it.

I believe the video was a good idea gone mediocre. Too many NUS members took the video as the bible and no variations were acceptable and that is absolutely ridiculous.

I had this discussion a little over a year ago with KR when I had umpires calling me from nationals confused because there were being told they were doing things wrong when, in fact, they were right on target with the mechanics. Or getting gigged on an evaluation for failing to use a mechanic that hasn't been in the book for more than 5 years.

The videos offer minimal info on very specific scenarios and somewhat generic. While the videos are a good starting point, they do not replace schools and clinics for proper training when it comes to teaching the umpire how to umpire.

Thanks for the PowerPoint, I am working a national qualifier this weekend and the review is helpful. I hope that I make it to a 3-man game.
