Situation: Runner on 1st and 2nd, batter hits ground ball to ss, runner on second goes half way. The ss tags 2nd and the runner on 2nd goes back to 2nd base.
Question: Is the force at third reinstated once runner on 2nd returns to second base? keep in mind the force on second was taken away by the ss touching second. |
forced runner
B1 forces R1 to go to 2nd, and R2 is forced to 3rd. Once R1 was out because ss stepped on 2nd, R2 could go back to 2nd if he/she wanted to, as the force was no longer on. Once a trailing runner is out, forces are cancelled on preceeding runners.

Anyway, if you now have R1 back on 2nd and BR on 1st, no one is forced to go anywhere anymore. |

Of course it is.....For the next play, since you now have runners on 2nd and 1st again....Gotcha :D glen |
forced runner?
Thank You for all your input. This was a situation the other night and a coworker of mine said that the force would be reinstated due to some misinterpetation of the rules. I just won a dr.pepper. Thanks again

Glen,
The little smilie drinking the Adult beverage is too much!! Hahahahaha |
Hi Elaine. How you been?
How is the DD? Did not see any GA teams taking part in the AFA 18U Nats this year. We have 125 teams. http://www.stopstart.freeserve.co.uk/smilie/jump3.gif glen |

DD Renee's team disbanded--no National for her this year.
As much as I can tell from the local webites, all the Ga teams are going to NSA and ASA. For the beverage--my favorite is Diet Dr. Pepper!! |
Elaine,
Diet Dr. Pepper is also my favorite. As for National tournaments, just finished working the 18U AFA Nationals. Had 27 games in the 7 day period...Worked the plate on the set up game. Had a good tournament. My favorite happening at the event went like this: Late Saturday nite my partner and I enter the field, place our water jugs and towels in the designated places and while standing there chatting, an elderly lady remarks, "When do you boys have to be back in the nursing home?" My partner is 73 and I am 66. Talk about cracking up a crowd, she did. http://www.stopstart.fsnet.co.uk/mica/Cartangry.gif glen |
Wow, Glen! AFA gives you a lot of games in a National. I can remember only working 12-13 games in ASA. I guess they didn't want to wear us out! LOL
You must have a lot of stamina to work that many games in the Texas heat and humidity, I don't think I could do it anymore. In my last National, the 16U in 1999, the heat index on the field nearly every day was about 103 and up, and I thought I was going to die! I would drink about a gallon of water per game, ice in my hat, ice in my unmentionable up top, and it still was trying. I don't think I peed but 2 times the whole week! LOL I am glad you had a good tournament, but by set-up, do you mean the Loser's Final or what? :>) |
Elaine,
It was trying, however, we do have a great mist tent and medical staff always watching over us. Set-up game to me is the last two undefeated teams meeting to see which will set and wait for the losers to fight out for the right to meet them in the final game... glen |
Never had a mist tent, Glen, I'll bet that was refreshing to say the least! Only time I ever partook of a mist tent was here at the 1996 Olympics.
The game you describe is what ASA calls the 'Winners Final'. |
