ASA UIC Clinic

The A.S.A. UIC Clinic is just a little over a week away.

Who all is going and better yet, who all is excited to be going?

A group from Indiana is all leaving Wednesday night in an R.V. and should be there in time for meetings on Thursday.

And yes, I'm a little excited to be going. I'm ready to hang out and tell war stories with some of the folks I don't get to see very often.

It'll be okay. There will be much more of "you" than there is of "me".

Ok I'm confused is that a fat joke?? Or a fast pitch vs slow pitch joke? I'm pretty sure it's a fat joke, and....well.....I resemble that remark! I'm almost twice the man you are!!

It wasn't a fat joke.

actually it wasn't a joke at all.. It was a fact, but not a fact about fat.

Houston

We will have 8. Some of us are flying in and some are driving.

NCASAUmp Wed Jan 30, 2013 11:54pm

I'll be there with the NC crew. I'll get in on Wednesday.

If anyone wants to grab a beer, send me a PM.

Having attended the past 5, I will, unfortunately miss this one. Would have to turnback/decline more than $700 of NCAA ball; since I pay my own way (travel, hotel, registration), I just couldn't make the numbers justify it.

I expect to be back in 2015. Y'all have a cold one at the new Chisholms on me.

In fact, Mike (Irishmafia), buy a round on me for all the Forum and Dave's site regulars; you know me well enough to send me a bill, and know I will mail you a check.

Great!!! Knowing these guys, I'm going to have to visit the bank tomorrow to ask for a bump on my credit limit :)

I don't have the agenda, but that is typically the time they have the seminar for "So you want to be a tournament UIC". Hospitality starts later, as best I recall; maybe 7:30 or 8:00.

Of course we were. Had to get acclimated before the free beer (hospitality) started.

Why do people always assume a "drink" needs to include alcohol?

Don't worry, no one will be an *** if someone drinks something else......well, at least, not ABOUT someone drinking something else :D

As Mike said; if you are there for "the round", he can put it on me.

Mike, if my girlfriend is there bartending, let her know it's on me; she may (as she has before) help with the tab, and I know you will address any righteous buybacks.

SRW Sun Feb 03, 2013 02:51pm

I'll be there Thursday afternoon. Seattle will have around 5 or 6... don't know the final tally.

That beer Andy's gonna buy me is gonna taste delicious. :D

NCASAUmp Wed Feb 06, 2013 06:01pm

DeputyUICHousto Sun Feb 10, 2013 09:09pm

Amazing Clinic!!!

Had around 500 in attendance. Great to see all of my "old" friends and meet some new ones. Houston Metro had 7 in attendance the most we've taken that I know of. Now, how about the hospitality Region VII provided? We served over 400 dinners in 21 minutes!!!!

I had a hot shower.... Sunday Morning at 4:00 am, right before we boarded the RV to head back to Indiana.

Did any of you guy's at the clinic get your hands on the New ASA Shirt? If so what are your thoughts on it?
Looks like it's $32 versus $25 for the older version.

"NEW ASA approved lighter weight Performance Moisture management Pro-Style Polo Shirt with ASA embroidered letters on chest. Utilizes light weight Premium breathable teardrop polyester mesh with moisture management properties. 3 button placket, extended length cut split-tail, colorfast, soil release."

BretMan Wed Feb 20, 2013 02:21pm

Haven't seen the new shirts yet, but see that they've finally been added to the OfficialGear.com website.

For anyone that has seen them, I would be interested in your take on the sizing. For most brands of shirts, an XL is pretty roomy on me- certainly enough that a chest protector will fit under it comfortably, without being too tight.

For the "old" ASA shirts, an XL is a snug fit for me. I wonder if the newer ones have a fuller cut?

Andy Wed Feb 20, 2013 02:49pm

I didn't see any equipment or uniforms at the UIC clinic.

I did see a sample of the new shirt at the council meeting in Dallas last November and it was made of a much lighter material. ASA properties has always had a concern that the lighter material wouldn't be as durable as the current shirts and they did express concerns about that.

As for sizing...I have no idea

gdc25 Thu Feb 21, 2013 08:33am

The Indiana group took a drive out to the HOF stadium and visited the sales dept. They told us in there that they wouldn't be ready until April.

This was my first ASA UIC Clinic and I had a great time; it was nice to see some old friends and to make some new ones. I hope you all have a great season.
