ASA Shirt Question
I have recently seen ads for ump shirts as both "teardrop mesh" and "dri-mesh".
Can you explain the terms? Is either the same as ASA sells? |
As I understand the terms, the ASA uniform shirts, as well as Cliff Keen and Honigs, are teardrop mesh shirts. The ASA leisure wear shirts (most popular now is the red honoring veterans), and Officials Choice shirts are dri-mesh. The teardrop weave breathes, too, but not so much; the dri-mesh is cooler and more comfortable in hot weather.
Looking closely at the fabric, each weave is a grid of woven patterns. If the center of each pattern is circular/tear-drop shaped with multiple stitches, that is a teardrop mesh. If the center is simply a "pin hole" (my description), a much tighter pattern than the teardrop, it is dri-mesh. Again, this is just my understanding; not on the business, just an end-user like you. |
Whatever shirt the ASA uses, they need to be changed. They breathe about as well as cast iron. Just way too uncomfortable in the heat of summer.

Its only the mesh they offer that way. You would think it would end up saving ASA Properties a ton of money in returned/replaced hats! |

And yes, my hair is straight so I don't look like this: http://mattoneal.com/wp-content/uplo...ar-gamble2.jpg |
I just received 2 hats marked 7 1/8 which is what I normally wear with no problem . These are a little tight. I'm trying to figure out if there is a way to stratch them a little - or just return them for 7 1/4 which might be too big.

The president of Budweiser orders a Bud. Miller's president orders a Miller High Life. The president of Coors orders a Coors. When it is Guinness's president's turn to order, he orders a soda. "Why didn't you order a Guinness?" everyone asks. The Guinness president replies, "If you guys aren't having a beer neither will I. " |

The newer shirts are also harder to get stains out of.......I spilled a strawberry snow cone on one of mine......and still have a pink stain where it was spilled. For a typical tournament weekend or a State tournament......I would need about seven Elbeco's.....I could get by with four or five of the mesh. I do not like the pants offered the last several years though. |
