I'm in my second year of working softball and as I'm getting better games I'm having a little trouble getting a real clear view of plays on runners advancing from second to third, whether stealing or on passed balls. My problem is the shortstop going in front of me on her way to back-up the throw to third. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Tom, from the "C" slot move parallel to the base line to have a 90 degree angle view on 3rd base as much as possible keeping at least 15-18 ft away from the bag. The throw is more likely coming from the catcher, if you feel your view is blocked, go to your plate umpire quickly for help.

See what you call and call what you see, don't guest.
