Fed Rule Changes, when?

When does the Fed announce the rule changes for next year, I have forgotten what month they usually come out.
I have heard that the proposals are out there for moving the pitchers plate back to college depth and to adopt the NCAA 8 runs after 5 innings instead of the 10 after 5 now in use.
Anybody else hear anything from their state?

NFHS Softball Rules Committee Meeting will meet in Indianapolis on June the 8th and 9th. But since there are states that play softball in the fall (at least Georgia does) I would suspect the new books have already been printed.

According to the NFHS Publications and Products Catalog I
just received from my officiating group TASO [texas] the new rules book
will be released in October of this year.

I believe NFHS rule books coincide with the calendar year which means fall ball plays under the same rules at those from the previous spring.

I could be wrong.

Once in a while. It's school year, all sports, even though the covers usually have a single calendar year in the title. The next softball book will say 2004, but be decided and published this year. As the bearded one said, released in October.

Thanks for the correction, but isn't October a little late for fall softball?

In North Carolina, we go by calendar year, as Mike said. High School plays in spring, and Middle Schools play in the fall. We will use this years rules in the fall. The season will be over well before Fed gets the new books out and we have the winter clinics.
