First of all, I know most of the umpires personally. They are all super people and great umpires.

Secondly, I did not view them as stiff....I viewed them as being the consumate professional and doing their job. At that level, you are not part of the show.

The wife received the ultimate compliment from one of our assigners this year. He said that in the game reports that were filed by the coaches, they never mentioned her. That shows that she is not being noticed which is very very very good.

That is a terrific compliment "to not be noticed". We are not the game. The players are the game. Being a female umpire, I don't want to be known as the lady ump. I just want the game to be played, and have the best team that day to win. I just try to call it one pitch , one play, at a time. My compliments to your wife.
