girl's on 1st and 2nd base. pitcher getting ready to pitch and drops ball half way through her windup. the ball lands at her feet and stays there inside the circle. As the plate umpire I automatically call a ball and advance both runners one base. Did I do this correct? This is in a federation varsity high school game. feedback would be appreciated..thanks!!

The pitch is a ball and runners can advance at their own risk.It is not an illegal pitch, the ball is live.

mikeref,

They may attempt to advance, but should not be advanced by
you.
The pitch is called a ball on the batter and ball remains in
play.
