This forum is dying. There are various reasons why.

I may not be here for too much longer. It's a sad state of affairs.

Why?

I am likely one of the reasons. I visit the forum 4-5 times a week, yet I rarely post. That can't help.

I hate the format at that site............it pisses me off. lol

I'm guessing anti-customer customer service of late.

It's not just the fact that it's slow. It's the horsecrap attitude.

That is certainly a reason why I am considering giving up this forum.

What other forums are available? This was the 1st I found 3 years ago, and I stopped looking.

There are other options out there. One has already been named in this thread. This used to be, far and away, the best option available, and for the time being may still be. However, the moderation around here has gone from one of being user friendly, and thanking individuals when they report SPAM, to being more pro-SPAM, allowing it to stay for days, and then banning members who report it for given periods of time. This is causing many of the old guard, myself included, to wonder about the customer service goals of officiating.com and its forum.

Our mere presence is payment.

You see, this site uses Google AdSense. Ever notice those funny little ads on the top of the page (especially the ones from bat doctors)? Google pays the site's owners a fixed fee for each time those ads are loaded and viewed on a page. Every time we click one of those ads, they get a little more.

So by simply being here, we are, in effect paying them.

And if people stop coming here...

Then one you're blocking via AdBlock or some firewall-based ad zapper.

Not that I know anything about firewall-based ad zappers... ;)

That site is so slooooow on my work computer, but is fine on my laptop at home....I think it is probably the internet connection at work....but it makes that site so much more frustrating to visit on a regular basis....

I have some issues on my netbook, laptop and desk top. I think there is a lot of extraneous/garbage downloading, mostly graphics that causes a delay just long enough to be an annoyance.
