Hello To All,
I have been posting over at the basketball forum but now that my season is almost over I started thinking about Baseball and Softball (In no particular order) Just wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction. I am looking for WHITE Micro Mesh Shirts.
We can get them thru our State Union but they are kinda spendy. I haven't been able to locate them on the web.
I would appreciate any help.

Try Gerry Davis' web site. One of the groups I umpire with has a white shirt as part of the uniform. The address is:

No luck, good site though. They had white ones, but with color on the arms. They need to be all white. Thanks

You could try one of the official suppliers of NSA shirts, like the one linked to below, and request the shirts without the embroidering.

Why do you want a white micromesh shirt anyways?

If you plan on umpiring, MAKE SURE the association you are joining allows white shirts.

Why didn't I think of that?

I don't need to JOIN an association, I have been Umpiring for quite some time now.

I am just tired of my knit/cotton WHITE polo shirts. Just wanted something different.
Our uniforms are WHITE polos with heather gray or black slacks.

How about the creme shirt offered from Honig's? It has some black trim on the sleeves, but you'll look like a Major League Umpire. Just some food for thought.

Because the IGHSAU - Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union -wants ALL WHITE shirts - not blue, not creme - WHITE with no trim. They offer MICRO Mesh shirts with the Girls Athletic Union logo on it, but they are expensive. Plus, I wanted to get 2 so I didn't have to wash every night! thanks for the effort!!

tw!ns,

NSA, has the white poly/cotton and the mesh. I am not
sure if they sell them without the NSA LOGO, but here is
address where I got my NSA shirts, caps, etc.

NATIONAL SOFTBALL ASSOCIATION
P.O. BOX 7 OR 101 NSA WAY
NICHOLASVILLE, KY 40356
ph # 859/887-4114

Hope this is helpful.

I'm I will catch some grief with this but.....when it is a league game OR a league tournament, we will wear whatever is clean. We have dark blue, light blue, red(our favorite) and have white and cream on order. We will wear dark blue pants but prefer grey.

We only do this if we are together or with umps that we know has this stuff. The bottom line, is if you look professional, act professional, and call a good game who care's what color of shirt we are wearing?

Further, I don't understand why our shoes MUST be ALL BLACK!!! But that is another argument.

I will admit that Light Blue over Dark Blue and Dark Blue over Grey looks the best. The key is matching your partner.

Because those with the white swooshes, strips, panels or whatever other configuration you can think of look terrible. The contrast of the white on black makes it look like your wearing sneakers.

There is a Carolina League team in Wilmington, DE and the umpires rarely dress alike, but the white on the shoes stand out even from the "sky" boxes.

Sorry, but all black is the easiest to match while finding the most comfortable shoe for the individual. At least, that is my opinion, FWIW.

I must admit that I agree with Mike on the aspect of black shoes. Those that are all black look so much more uniform and professional than those with white or other colors on them.

Uh...Mike. Do they have skyboxes in the Carolina league? When I lived back in Durham way back when the Bulls were a part of that league, a skybox was a folding wooden seat. The rest of us sat in the bleachers!

What about the Honig's (Nike Air) Base Shoes that contain some white?

I'm going to purchase new base shoes...but can't decide on a bit of white, or no white. IMHO: A bit of white looks good on these particular base shoes.

Our uniform requirements (ASA) proscribe all black shoes, so even if I think they may look good with a little white, how can I choose to skirt the rules that apply to me while claiming integrity in enforcing the rules that apply to others?

Or, putting it a little less righteously, I just choose to conform to the requirments, even when in many cases I could get away with not comforming.

I don't like flags on hats, either. Luckily, our local uniform requirements continue to allow those to be optional. I'll continue to option out.

whiskers_ump Thu Mar 06, 2003 10:30am

I agree with Tom in both respects. If you have a shoe with
some white, then use back dye polish and it will disappear.
Our association stills allows us to call without the flag
on our shirts also. That is one thing I feel strongly that
should not have been permitted/allowed in sports. The flag
should not be worn on sporting apperal where it is subject
to being soiled.
