Fun One Last Night
1st & 2nd, two outs.
Ground ball to F5 who instead of doing the smart thing and touching 3B, throws across the infield to F3 at 1B. Ball short hops and handcuffs F3 who gets the glove underneath the ball, but doesn't catch it. As he brings the glove up, it is as if he was balancing the ball on top of the webbing and fingers of the partially closed glove. As the BR crosses the base, the ball is still on top of the glove and, IMJ, not controlled by F3 (as a visual reference, 85-90% of the ball was visible even to the PU 70' away). Call? "No control, safe!" F3 decides he is going to argue with me instead of playing the game. Both runners scored and guess who was to blame for that? |
What, you mean you didn't check with your partner? Maybe s/he had a better angle...

I once had this:
I'm PU, my partner calls out the B/R on a banger at first base. The first base coach tells my partner to ask if I had a different angle.. Partner says to me: "Andy, did you have a different angle?" I replied: "Yes!" The game continued from there..... |

I have one the same thing with asking about the angle. Of course, in a time limit game I will go and talk to my partner face to face, killing some time and adding a tariff to the a-hole tax, :)
