Influx of spammers and what to do.
 

There has been an flood of spam messages on this board that have a simple nonsensical message in almost correct English (e.g. "thanks for share") with a link to a website in the signature.

First, don't click the link (unless you're feeling lucky ;)).

Second, click the http://forum.officiating.com/images/buttons/report.gif button in the upper right and report the message as SPAM. The mods will fairly quickly dump the message.

As a famous TV personality says, "We're all in this together."

Except -- you don't need to do this on every thread that the same spammer post in. The "reporting" sends me an email and I don't need umpteen emails flodding my bos to tell me the same thing. So, just report the issue once.

And, since I don't need more than one person reporting, just put a new post in the thread that says "reported" (DO NOT QUOTE THE SPAM POST). If you see that, then don't report the post as well.

Either someone made up a new account to show us what a spam post looks like, or there's a spammer in the "what to do about spam" thread. :D

Bob, any chance that somebody that is a regular in the softball forum could be given moderator for just softball so they can clean it up without having to bother you?
