Funny at the All-Star game
 

Had a very pleasant low-key "All-Star" game on Sunday between participants who all knew each other. Very friendly, some joking back and forth, etc.

R1 on first, "Melanie". "Bailey" playing shortstop. "Emily" up to bat. Bailey's playing about halfway between 2nd and 3rd bases.

First pitch goes by, 3BC hollers out, "Melanie, that was the steal sign - go ahead and steal, Bailey can't get over there in time from there."

Catcher: "Bailey - move toward 2nd about 3-4 steps for a throw down."

3BC: "Emily, hit the ball where Bailey was." Which Emily did on the very next pitch.

One other oddity. We play on BIG fields, and no one has ever seen one hit out, at any age. And being Texas with no rain at all this year, the ground is hard as clay. Girl hits one so high and so far that by the time it bounces over the fence (no one's ever seen that happen either), she's already rounded 2nd and almost halfway to 3rd. It sucked sending her back to 2nd, and even the defensive coach (3BC from above) wanted to give her 3rd.
