Texas - Texas A&M

Wit and wisdom from the talking heads covering the Longhorns - Aggies game:

"Softball is a sport of momentum and runs much like basketball."

Since when do they score runs in basketball????

Not scoring runs... going on runs (i.e. taking advantage of a hot inning, etc).

Little touchy, are we? I didn't say anything about anyone in Texas, but you seem to think I did. But are you gonna deny those from the great Republic of Texas don't have a tendency to do things THEIR way?

And where did the "floridian" come from? Did the state of Florida finally reclaim L.A.?

Larry, holding out on us? ;)

Destin is still in Lower Alabama, but they think like the peninsula.

Last I checked, Destin was in Florida...............I love Aladamnbama.......they know how to make grits and bbq.........and I got stopped by the Al Highway patrol .......and they were the most proffessional cops I ever ran into (except for Illinois)......

I have a lady friend in Destin......a daughter in Tempe (another in Galveston and another in Houston)........and a lot of time on my hands........

I thought that the txazfloridian was funny.........obviously I failed.....

The panhandle, in the past few decades had often been referred to as Lower Alabama, as Larry noted. At one point, even Florida Magazine questioned the panhandle's status.

It probably doesn't matter much so long as the emphasis is on "az". ;)

Yeah but like some music... it sounds great, but...... "What'd he say"???

The plate guy on my HS play-off crew was from Alabama (and a cop to boot).
A couple of times I thought I was going to have to translate for him.

I have a fairly thick accent......Texas is kinda like Fl. It depends on where you are from........East Texas is way different than West Texas.......the gulf coast has it's own twang.......the closer yout get to Beaumont......the closer you are to the La. accent.

On the Island......you have damn near everything.........that is why I love it.....

Bull****......

My dad was from Muleshoe Tx and my mother from Rockford Ill.

I can spot a west Tx accent and a northern Ill accent in a hearbeat.

Ever been to the Outer Banks of proper Carolina??? Where they talk Hoi Toide Brogue?

If not, here is a sample: YouTube - Carolina Outer Banks Brogue Vocabulary

My accent is not as heavy as those in this film, but I have been told you can hear the European in my Carolinian. (And I have been in Texas for decades, now.)

I can't even read this forum anymore. All the "reported"s get left there, bumping old and completed threads to the top. Every one of the threads that show as "unread" are simply reported-bumps.

I'll come back when the problem is actually fixed.

I agree. Can we have the reported posts get deleted along with the posts where one of US says "reported?"

The other option is to have them open when the spam's there.

It would help, of course, if people would follow the guidelines and only report each spammer once.

Today, for example, "modelins" (or some such spammer) had posts in 8 threads. 4 of them were reported. One would do.

And, you'll have to take complaints about "fixing" the problem to Brad. There's not much there I can do.

So, you want us to ignore the SPAM posts until we have finished reading all of the threads to make sure no one has already reported the spam? Maybe I'll just stop reporting the spam. Makes it easier for both of us.

I agree. It's easier for one moderator to sift through a couple extra reports than for entire groups of members to read each new post to make sure one spammer hasn't already been reported.

You're putting the onus on us, the guests who make this site happen, the ones who drive traffic to the site (and, thus, pay your bills by not blocking the Google ads).

Or we could add a few more moderators.
