Little League Softball

In yesterdays game, R1 leaves early and then pitcher commits an illegal pitch. The ball is dead once the runner leaves early, so the illegal pitch never occurred.
However my question is what is the call if the illegal pitch occurred before the runner left early. Illegal pitch is not a dead ball but an illegal pitch still occurred but the runner also left early. Is the runner still obligated to maintain contact or does the illegal pitch erase the obligation? Does it matter what type of illegal pitch it was?
In my game, the coach tried to argue the illegal pitch caused his girl to leave early, but she left before the illegal pitch occurred so no go with that one. I could see however if the pitcher committed an illegal pitch then the girl leaves early how the coach could make this their argument.
I know that NFHS and ASA have a ruling for this and that you enforce both, but what about Little League. Is it the same or what?

Thanks guys and gals for any help with this, I am new here and I am glad I was referenced to this site. It gives me another officiating board to look at daily. :D

I don't umpire LL, but here is a thread on exactly the same topic wrt NFHS and ASA. Some of us (e.g., me) don't agree with the official interpretation in all cases.

See "Screwy Play that Actually Happened" about 7-10 threads down... we've just been discussing that.

I am led to believe that LL softball uses the same rule as LL baseball, and the ball is not dead when runners leave early. But I don't do LL SB, so. . .

IP=DDB, so refer to the other thread where this is being discussed.
