So you're saying the pen is less mighty than the sword. I think you are quite wrong on that. Your comments also show a huge ignorance regarding this societal problem.

I agree with you, however, that there is not so much that we can or should be doing about it in our roles as sports officials. I do not believe the field is where it usually appears. If we focus on the main aspects of sportsmanship as we are required to do by our training, we are addressing the issue as best we can in this venue.

And I'm not saying that this is something that we should generally be concerning ourselves with as sports officials. Kinda hard to cyber-bully someone during a game if no electronic equipment is allowed on the field or in the dugout. :D

What I am saying is that we shouldn't be too quick to dismiss cyber-bullying's effects upon a child's psyche.

Fair enough. My stance is that the adults can handle it better through preemption in forming the child's psyche to recognize and dismiss idiots who have internet courage.

I'm done, this probably shouldn't be on this board anyway.

Mike -

This cyper bullying thing I agree in most of what you are saying about game comments but this doesnt happen just in fron a group of 5 to 10- KIDS It happens on facebook, myspace, yourspace, faceplace, etc. all online

To kids/children image/perception is everything - they can shut off their computer or phone - but the other 400+ people are still reading it and passing it on or laffing to others or whatever.

It is different world - I mean some towns are passing out condoms to 7th graders
