One of those games....

HS V game last night. This was the game where just about anything weird that could happen did....

1. One pitcher did something unusual - RHP, she stepped on the PP with her left foot, paused, then stepped up with her right foot and went into her delivery, pushing off with her right foot. It sure looked funny, but I did not see anything illegal about it.

2. Batter forgot she had two strikes and tried to bunt. Bunted foul for strike
3, I had to tell her she was out about four times.

3. Batter squares to bunt, pitch is way inside, she tries to defend herself by trying to hit the ball with the bat, but missed, ball hits batter, I have to call a dead ball strike and leave her at bat.

4. F8 is under a fly ball to centerfield, ball deflects off of her glove and hits her in the face, she goes down in a heap, coaches start running out on the field to her, I have runners running. Fortunately, one of the other outfielders got the ball and threw it back in and nothing happened that I had to deal with.

5. First inning, home pitcher has a very short pause after she steps on the PP, so between innings I mention something to the home coach and end up in a big discussion about how much of a pause is legal, because "the faster she goes, the better she pitches". I end up calling an illegal pitch in the next inning because she stepped on the PP and went right into her motion. That finally slowed her down for the rest of the game.

1 hour and 45 minutes for a 5 inning run rule game......

I would have traded you Andy. Mine went nearly 3 hours, neither team could play defense but both could hit the ball. Visiting team gets 11 ahead in 5th inning, but no, lets give up 2 runs in the bottom so we have to continue. They get 13 ahead in the 6th, but wait a minute, lets give up 4 runs with 2 outs so we can play the full 7.

Must have been at least 5 girls with a 3-0 count struck out swinging at 3 straight pitches out of the strike zone.
