sub

NFHS Girls Varsity Fast pitch. Bottom of fifth inning. B1 gets a double. Coach tells PU he has a sub (pinch runner) for B1. PU writes down the sub and tells the Visiting team book keeper. The coach then tells the PU he changed his mind. He wants to leave B1 at second. PU tells visting team to scratch the sub and we play. When does the pinch runner become a sub.

When it was reported, accepted and score keepers informed of the change.

You had a sub; and then a re-entry when Coach reported a change of mind.

However, when the coach approached with the change of mind, I would make sure he understood the ramifications to avoid an issue later in the game.

He may rethink the situation and just leave the sub in there and all is good in the world.
