Hey Guys& Gals,

I don't know about you, but I am sick of [some of the posters], the porno ads, etc., over on Gary McGriff's board, so I'm staying off of it for a while.

[Deleted]

I'm just posting this for the ones of you that post or read over there why you won't see me.

IMHO, this is the BEST board for us umps to discuss. Give me your feedback here or email me.

Now, I feel better getting this off my chest!

Thanks gang,

Elaine,

I joined a boycott of McGriffs over a year ago. It is basicaly unsupervised, and the trols had drug the baseball board down into the mud. Sounds as if the SB board and been hijacked also.

This board and the E-teamz fastpitch board are the only softball boards I surf. Good people on both, for the most part.

That line reminds me of a sign that used to be on the highway just outside of Fort Laramie, Wyoming. The sign read " Fort Laramie. Home of 352 good people, and 6 soreheads." (The # may be off. That was in 1992 or 93.)

I tried to get my partner to ask the operator of the service station if he was one of the "good people" or a "sorehead". He wouldn't.

I haven't been on the BB side of McGriff's board for some time - part of the same boycot Roger mentioned. That board always has appealed to some jerks who put stuff there that doesn't belong out in public. And the SB side has several recent ones that should be removed. I didn't see AB's name calling Elaine, but there's no room for that anywhere.

The name calling is part of the helmask discussion that is way down the page. What set him off was that some guy said he would wear a helmask, but not a cap. I made mention that not wearing a cap with the uniform looks unprofessional and AB & Tex (especially AB) went on, and on, and on about how unprofessional I was because I did not know what a foul ball was from a post about 4 months ago. I admitted shortly after my incorrect post that I was wrong, but he didn't care. When he called me the bad name, he also stated that 'one of my boyfriends would come and along to rescue me' and cut down my postings about Renee.
He is a moron!!
I sent Gary an email yesterday thanking him for providing the board, but I wouldn't be playing an active part anymore due to the profanity, personal attacks and porno ads.

This is really sad. McGriffs was the first umpire discussion board I found on the net. I was impressed with the wealth of information, and that all of the old threads were kept online.

Since then, Gary has re-started the boards (maybe in an attempt to delete much of the vitriol), so they don't go back so far anymore.

I have sent Gary several emails complaining about overly personal attacks, porn SPAM, trolls, and other postings that were damaging the board. I even offered to be a part-time board monitor if he could set it up so others could delete posts. I think he may be limited by the out-dated software he is using for the board.

I completely understand those of you who have decided to not frequent the board any longer. I expect I will hang with Gary for awhile at least, but then I have not been taking the brunt of the personal attacks. As for the SPAM, I just ignore it.

Smile Just a quick story

That Elaine's topic reminded me about that happen this year to my SP UIC he is in his late 60's and been around SP forever like since the 50's. Anyways this player gets in a argument with him about a call and the the player calls him a "MOTHER F***KIN OLD FART". When asked about the ejection the UIC said the player was fine until he said "OLD" that is when he ejected him...

Anyways on McGriff I will read but usally dont care to participate because of the trolls

Have a good one

I agree.....

LB,

I have lurked on McGriff's Website for the past several years and just studied the good posts. I'm not sure what set off those jerks, but they certainly have it in for you.

In any case, I will join your boycott as this board seems more civilized.

Glad to have you aboard Kellerumps!! Are we to know (at least) your 1st name and where you umpire? I'm in Metro Atlanta, Mike is in Delaware, Glen and Joel are in Texas, just to name a few. There are many fine umpires that converse on this board, and we email each other, too. We try to maintain a good fellowship of the blues, (reds, greens, whites, etc.) and don't harbour grudes or launch personal attacks.
I've been able to 'tweek' my game just by reading the posts here. I'm sure Glen will chime in with some of his cartoon characters, they are a hoot!

Kellerumps,

Welcome aboard.

A big HOWDY from East Texas.

I totally agree with Elaine. The McG board was getting a little
out of control. I waved bye bye about 4 months ago. So LURK
no more You have found the place for Q's and A's. Someone will
always give you an answer and where to find it. Just remember to
let us know what organization. We cover NCAA, ASA, NFHS, AFA, PONY, USSSA,
NSA, LL, DIXIE, and some ISF. And "Lady Blue" , we all know
you are a professional. We all, well alot of us, have posted things thinking we
were saying something else.

Best I could come up with *Lady Blue*

So...since I haven't been to McGriff's for over a week...did I get flamed anymore Elaine?

Yes, welcome, Kellerumps.

As you can tell from my Moniker, I'm NOT from Texas (although I used to live there.) I'm presently in Minnesota, 10,000 government intrustions into your life, and land of sky blue taxes.

Yeah Scott, one of those jerks said something about "my boyfriends would come to rescue me" and made a nasty reference that included me doing the 'wild thing' with all of y'all and that's why y'all defended me. What jerks!

I've read some McGriff's but I'm not posting over there anymore under Lady Blue, or maybe not at all!

Welcome aboard, Lou!

I'll still check McGriff's and answer legitimate questions while trying to ignore the garbage. Besides, I like Ed's AA stories too much. If I need to post something, it's here.

Lou, the NFHS posts a code of ethics on their site, it's pretty broad, but it could be a good starting point.

Angry McGriff postings

Lady Blue,

I know you won't believe me but I'm not the beloved AlabamaBlue from McGriff's. I've posted under this moniker before he came to our state. I am a little disappointed with this thread and your allegations against AB. Unless Gary deleted some of AB's postings, I never saw the offending posts you mentioned above. I know AlabamaBlue personally through umpiring softball and officiating football. He is a young official (early 20's) and a pure student of officiating. This is his first year officiating football. He elevated himself above other new recruits through dedicated rules study and hard work to officiate in a number of varsity games. I met him earlier in the year when we were assigned FP softball games together. I was amazed by his knowledge and demeanor especially for someone with only 2-3 years of experience. Although I don't agree with flaming others on these boards, I think you brought some of the firestorm on yourself. Again AB is a student of the game, young and indestructible (much like us at that age), I think he was a little disappointed by the tone of some your postings and felt the need to point out your misruling(s) and/or rule knowledge. I realize through your postings that you're a very accomplished and acclaimed umpire; however, sometimes those at the top forget about their roots and rest on their past accomplishments. Some top officials can be stubborn and resist the idea that they make mistakes. If AB made the derogatory remarks that you mentioned above, then he was wrong. It would be out of his character to make such remarks though. I know him on the field as a soft spoken and confident official but quick to defend his position when detecting misinformation or misapplication of the rules. Good luck posting here but don't be surprised if you're challenged on a posting! Sometimes it harder to maintain your status then to earn it in the first place.
