ASA National Schools
If you have never been to an ASA National Umpire school, I would sure recommend it. It is money and time well spent. I attended the San Antonio school this past weekend and it was outstanding. Walt Sparks, Dave Epperson, Julie Johnson and Gene Harrison all did an outstanding job of teaching a large group of umpires from all levels. Great station to station drills that kept us moving and really did not allow for much standing around. Marvin Cobb and April Sparks did an awesome job of coordinating the school. This was my 3rd National school and it was the best that I have attended. It reminded me why I feel so strongly about supporting ASA. ASA training is the best around.

you had JJ and Walt? What a great time that must have been. Both are awesome as I am sure the others were as well.
btw... I second the "get yourself to a Nat'l school" comment. Money and time well spent. |
Going to any event with Walt will be memorable I promise you.
I learned a lot from him over the years and had the extreme pleasure of working the Armed Forces Nat with him as UIC one time. Of course Julie and Epperson are some of the best you can find and I enjoyed being taught by both of them. National Schools are without a doubt a fantastic way to learn more and to get a good look taken of you and your work. If you leave one without improving, well then, you must have slept in and missed it all. |
I wanted to go....but was in Florida for that week........Oh well.....maybe next year.

Might depend upon how I'm healing. I had my ankle surgery last week, which went very well. However, it's another 5 more weeks in a cast, then in a boot, then a lot of PT.
We'll see. |
I see they have a school in Hawaii this year. That's the one we should all sign up for!
