Dang. Funny, I was just wondering the same thing the last time I read through the board.

Sometimes real life just gets in the way of posting. I myself have probably only been here a half dozen times since March. I used to check in every day.

BlitzkriegBob Thu May 27, 2010 02:25pm

Yeah, around the same time this thread was started I was wondering what had happened to you Scott.

surf24 Thu May 27, 2010 02:44pm

Do you guys make a habit of chasing new folks off?

MD Longhorn Thu May 27, 2010 02:56pm

wade's not a new folk... he's an old folk.

I am here again, once in a while. I have been just a little preoccupied elsewhere, and so I have had very little computer time, even while I have been at work.

Well, we look forward to your return whenever time permits. :)

Hope all is well, or is well on its way to being so.

If you're worried about wade being chased off, all I have to say is... you obviously don't know wade!

I wasn't necessarily speaking "highly" of wade.... :D

Just that he can hold his own in the slings and arrows of web boarding!

I sent emails and messages to all the addresses I had-no response. I know he had to cut back on his HS games due to work conflicts. Maybe his college assignor put the whammie on him being on these boards-its not unheard of.

Maybe taking a break.

I still check the board but I'm not officiating either.

Don't know if I'm done permanetly, but I know I'm taking at least 2 years off

Funny thing is, I was thinking of starting this same thread when I got the playoff assignment in Sacramento. I have no idea how to get in touch with him, but I definitely miss his contributions around here.

wadeintothem just showed up on HB!

Hi guys. Wow. Cool thread :)

OK, in my area there is umpire drama and ASA lost the month of may tournaments. The reality is many umpires on the "other" side are very good friends of mind and remain so; however, out of higher loyalty not so much to ASA but more so to my local association - the people who have trained us all and helped us all and for shady reasons of the greed of a coach - has been cut out, so I just stepped aside. I could not work for that group at this time. I still have hopes everything can be worked out... but that is likely naive.

A number of us stood down for may, at the cost of thousands and thousands of dollars. This is important because some tournies require upwards of 90 umpires required.

I worked some college ball and ran a few clinics and did some rec league stuff but over all, I took a few months off and it wasnt all that bad except the money. :D My method of dealing with a major loss of a large part of what I've done in may for years was to completely with draw.

But I was back in action this past weekend and it was great.

A number of us stood down for may, at the cost of thousands and thousands of dollars. Some umpires I never would have expected to remain loyal did. Not a lot of them lol but I was suprised at some of the names of the "game whores" who stayed true to the blue. This is an important protest because some tournies require upwards of 90 umpires required.

I worked some college ball, a little in april, and ran a few clinics and did some rec league stuff but over all, I took a few months off and it wasnt all that bad except the money. :D My method of dealing with a major loss of a large part of what I've done in may for years was to completely withdraw.

But I was back in action this past weekend and it was great.

I'm impressed - in my area, there seems to be a lack of solidarity between umpires.

Kind of a mixed bag here. Some umpires in our group recently jumped ship when a contract for a particular town went to another org, others (like myself) stayed to dance with the one who brought us.

What can I say? I have an amazing assignor who has opened many doors for me.
