Fed Substitution Rule
 

A few questions with Fed rule.

Starter S1 in game. Sub later enters game for S1. S1 on bench. Can S1 sub for another Starter?

Same question with Sub. When Sub comes out and S1 reenters game, can Sub later re-enter game for a different Starter?

Last Question: Sub1 enters game for S1. Sub later comes out of game. Can Sub2 enter game for Sub1?

No. A starter or substitute can only re-enter into the spot that they left.

In your scenario, Sub1 is no longer in the game. However, to answer what I think you question reall is, a substitute can be replaced by another substitute. If this is done, now the coach will have a starter and two substitutes tied to the same spot in the batting order.

A most basic rule of lineups is that no player can appear in more than one spot in the order. Treat every question on that basis.

A CR seems to be an exception to some, but a CR is not actually in the lineup, just acting for someone else.
