Recruiting new umpires................

Does anyone out there have any proven methods of attracting new umpires, esp the younger guys & gals?
If so, let me know. We need umpires.

I won't be coming here that much anymore. I might check in now and again.

With the economy the way it is, I've not noticed a shortage of new umpires in my area.

Nor I. In fact, some places are seeing a surplus, and others are coming out of retirement.

Our association has been posting adds in Craigslist for the past 3 seasons and have gotten a pretty good response from that.

While you are clicking on things, can you turn off the BOLD or change the font?

Thank you.

Same here in OR. Last year some HS associations in my area stopped taking new officials because they had so many, and I think my association may not be this year.

This is one of the dumbest things I've ever heard.

Why Irish? You have bold in YOUR posts. I'm not allowed?

No, I do not use bold in a post unless it is for a specific reason. You are using it as a standard font.

It is considered pretty much on the rude side in internet etiquette. It can also be more difficult for some to read. I just made a request that obviously has been also raised by others. But, being a free country, you can use whatever style you like.

Then again, so can we all.

Even if you have umpires, it is never enough.

If an organization stops accepting umpires, the only thing that comes to my mind is greed. And in a few years, who is going to umpire those games? I find it hard to believe someone thinks people are going to hang around and stand in line waiting to be accepted by an organization.
